The full name of the TPU is the Thermoplastic Urethane,which made by extrusion and mixing of MDI with NCO functional group, POLYOL with OH functional group and 1.4BG.
Classification:
According to the molecular structure: it can be divided into polyester TPU and polyether TPU. The former is made by the polycondensation reaction of diols and dibasic acids, and the latter is produced by the reaction of diols and diisocyanates.
According to the type of isocyanate: it can be divided into aromatic TPU and aliphatic TPU. The former is mainly made of toluene diisocyanate (TDI) or diphenylmethane diisocyanate (MDI), and the latter is made of aliphatic diisocyanates such as hexamethylene diisocyanate (HDI).
According to the soft segment molecular weight: it can be divided into low molecular weight TPU and high molecular weight TPU. The former has a lower soft segment molecular weight and a shorter molecular chain; the latter has a higher soft segment molecular weight and a longer molecular chain.
Features:
Physical properties: good wear resistance, more than five times that of natural rubber; tensile strength up to 70MPa, elongation at break up to 1000%; strong tear resistance; excellent flexural resistance in different environments.
Chemical properties: TPU has good water resistance under turbidity, and the polyether series is better; good antioxidant ability, temperature resistance up to 120℃; it is a highly polar polymer material, and has little affinity with non-polar mineral oil, and is almost not corroded in fuel oil and machine oil.
Other properties: very good low temperature resistance, usually up to - 50℃; very easy to weld using high frequency or hot pressing, good air tightness; excellent biocompatibility, non-toxic, no allergic reaction.
Advantages of the TPU film:
Elasticity and flexibility: suitable for dynamic environments (such as sports equipment, medical devices);
Waterproof and breathable: microporous structure realizes water vapor exchange, used for outdoor clothing and footwear;
Strong weather resistance: anti-ultraviolet, anti-yellowing, extending product life;
Good adhesion: excellent adhesion to metal, cloth, plastic and other substrates.
Applicaitons:
Clothing: waterproof and breathable fabrics, seamless underwear.
Electronics: mobile phone cases, screen protectors, data cable covers.
Medical: infusion tubes, wound dressings, medical catheters.
Automotive: automotive oil seals, airbag coatings, instrument panel surfaces.
Industrial: conveyor belt coatings, cable protective covers.
Global market: The scale will exceed US$15 billion in 2023 and is expected to exceed US$25 billion in 2030, with a compound annual growth rate of 6.8% (data source: Grand View Research);
Regional growth: The Asia-Pacific region accounts for more than 50%, and China is the world's largest producer and consumer;
Driving factors: New energy vehicles, wearable devices, and environmental protection policies (such as plastic bans) drive demand growth.
TPU Film Extrusion Line from JWELL: Process Determines Quality,Technology Leads the Future
The TPU film production line of JWELL Company adopts intelligent and high-precision processes, with the following core advantages:
Extrusion system:
The single-screw extruder realizes uniform plasticization of materials, with a temperature control accuracy of ±1°C.
High-quality mold steel, with a thickness deviation ≤ ±2%.
Casting/calendering process:
The air knife + vacuum adsorption technology ensures the flatness of the film.
The multi-roll calendering system rapidly cools to maintain the surface tension of the product.
Post-processing technology:
Online thickness measurement and tension closed-loop control, adjusting parameters in real time. Corona treatment enhances surface adhesion to meet lamination requirements.
v Energy-saving design:
The servo drive system saves more than 10% energy compared with traditional equipment.
The waste heat recovery technology reduces energy consumption costs.
